The aim of this course is to develop the skills required to produce sketchbooks which are an inspiration, and which contain all the nuts and bolts of experimentation. A sketchbook – like life – should reflect the life and times of the artist, including the mishaps and the triumphs. They should be both revealing and indecipherable, ultimately assisting the artist in mastering their creativity.
Missing Nothing is a virtual tour of the Spring and Summer exhibitions now closed to the public with contemporary artist Liane Lang.
Artist Liane Lang will be presenting weekly sessions on modern and contemporary artists and ideas including some of the art and artists you will be missing out on in London and abroad in the next few weeks due to gallery closures.

Painting Personal Projects is a programme taught Dan Coombs with the support of Alison Harper. It’s aim is to give students an opportunity to develop their own work whilst receiving guidance and mentoring in a supportive community of artists and is intended to increase confidence, creativity and a sense of direction…
The Contemporary Fine Art course is aimed at a broad range of artists and levels of experience and seeks to develop a community where practical and theoretical skills can be explored and established with emphases on making, presenting, talking and thinking about art.
ONLINE: Oil Painting with Alison Harper – 21st Apr to 30th June 2020 Tuesday Evening 6-9pm
Come and learn step by step approaches to oil painting. Students will learn, amongst other things, colour mixing and ways of constructing images through contrasting tonal values, blocks of colour, line and texture.
Our online mentoring programme is aimed at meeting the specific needs of the participant and they range from professional artists to amateurs. Our mentoring can be addressed at the general development of the artist or project orientated where the participant is looking to achieve a specific goal like an exhibition or preparation of a portfolio for entrance application to a main stream art college at BA or MA level. We tailor each session to the specific needs of the participants.
Weaving the Thread: Painting and the Imagination with Adrian Wiszniewski RSA
(This course has been postponed due to ongoing pandemic) Weaving the Thread is a painting and drawing course taught by Adrian Wiszniewski RSA at the Essential School of Painting over one weekend. It’s aim, using planned exercises, is to help access the resources of our imagination; giving us imagery and ideas for our artwork.
