Through a series of days held fortnightly in the spacious school studio, you will have one-to-one tutorials and group discussions, focused on developing your personal areas of inquiry and intuitive response in your painting practice. The course will also provide guidance and teaching about various key painting methods and relevant processes and materials and is aimed at a range of levels of experience, helping those new to abstraction to find a way into their practice, whilst those already experienced will find support in further formulating and sustaining their practical research areas, developing skills, techniques and building confidence. The main focus of the course is practical, however also included are presentations and debate about the context, history and various discourses surrounding the genre.
Please note: although participants may be new to abstraction, some previous experience in painting is advisable.
