The ESOP Young Artists Scholarships are composed of two types of scholarships
- The ESOP Advanced Painting Course scholarship 2023-25
- And the ESOP Year-long Scholarship 2023-24
- Each scholarship has it own specifications and you can apply for both, however you will only receive one of either.
Applications are now open. The last date to apply for either of our scholarships is the 31st of August 2023, 23.59 hrs.
Interviews are conducted on a rolling basis once a suitable candidate is found we will admit them. Please note with the limited places available both for the courses and scholarships we strongly advise you to apply as soon as possible. All applications are to be emailed to admin@theesop.com
The ESOP Advanced Painting Course scholarship 2023-25.
This scholarship is open to artists between 20-30 years1. It provides for 50% of the course fee over the two year of ESOP Advanced Painting Course 2023-25 and includes a full time studio2 and the End of Year exhibition.

ESOP Scholarship 2023-24.
This Scholarship is a fully or part funded artist scholarship open to all applicants between the ages of 20-30 years to study at the Essential School of Painting (ESOP). Three young artists will receive a place on one of our one day a week yearlong courses. All start at the beginning of the new academic year 2023-24 and finish with an End of Year Exhibition at the end of June or beginning of July 2024.
Please note registration on the yearlong courses is ongoing and open to the public. Places are filling up. As stated above please apply early and consider applying for two or more courses in your application.
How to Apply for ESOP Scholarships:
The ESOP Advanced Painting Courses Scholarship 2023-25
You will need to follow the regular application process for this course. In your brief statement of why you are applying for the course included a paragraph indicating you would like to be considered for this scholarship, in other words, Applicants to the ESOP Advanced Painting Scholarship need only to include a short paragraph indicating that they are applying for the scholarship with their application to the course.

ESOP Year-long Course Scholarships 2023-24
To apply to our year-long course scholarship please send
- Six images of your work
- your CV
- and a personal statement
- introducing yourself,
- your practice as an artist,
- why you would like to do your selected course
- and how you believe it will benefit your practice as an artist.
You can also send any other information you believe will help in your application. This may include video presentations, details of any galleries, websites or social media sites that represent your work.
- Last date to apply 31st August 2023.

Please remember to include your contact telephone or mobile number. We will need that if you are shortlisted. This will be needed if you are shortlisted for in-person interviews.
Your application will first go through an initial assessment to check that it meets the minimum requirements to apply. Once it passes this initial check it is then presented to a selection panel and if successful you will be shortlisted for in-person interviews.
As stated above the selection process and admissions are on a rolling basis once all the scholarship places are filled up we will close the admissions whether or not the deadline date of 31st of August has been reached. This is why we strongly advise that you apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Once you are shortlisted for in-person interview you will be contact about the date and time of your interview.
All applicants whether successful or not will receive a response from us regarding their application. If you have not received a response to your application by the 15th of September, please check your spam/junk box prior to contacting the school.
